Here are several resources for those with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities. These resources were collected by our community partners and vetted by CUIMC Columbia Students.

Asthma

Cancer

Caner Care: CancerCare’s mission is to “provide free emotional and practical support for people with cancer, caregivers, loved ones, and the bereaved.” This resource provides phone and web-based counseling and support groups, a telephone hotline, free online resources, and financial assistance programs. You can search the website by cancer diagnosis or topic.

Chronic Diseases/Conditions

Advice and Support for Chronic Disease Patients and Their FamiliesFree COVID-19 support program for those with chronic diseases and their loved ones. You can get expert advice, join the online community, and learn about different ways to get involved.

Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Diabetes

Diabetes and Coronavirus: Information on topics related to diabetes and COVID-19, including tips, online discussion boards, and legal rights.

Disability

What do older adults and people with disabilities need to know?: Information for older individuals and those living with disabilities. This is available in Spanish. 

Guidance for Wheelchair Users: Advice for wheelchair users to take during the COVID-19 pandemic, including how to keep hands and the wheelchair clean and social distancing.

Access-A-Ride Transportation for people with disabilities whose disability prevents their use of accessible mass transit, public bus, or subway service for some or all trips. 

COVID-19 Resources for People with Disabilities: Resources for those with disabilities including, information on COVID-19, food and supplies, social services and Medicaid benefits, home health care, transportation, housing, utilities, education, employment, businesses, finance, pet and service animals, and mental health. 

HIV/AIDS
